FAQ

Frequently asked questions about our dresses

Most brides will start shopping about a year before their big day. If a bride is living abroad, she might even start earlier. We recommend ordering a dress no later than four to six months before your wedding. After ordering, dresses can take up to two to five months to arrive. We usually recommend starting your alterations four to six weeks prior to your wedding.

At ExC Fashion House, we believe that everyone – regardless of their budget – should be able to afford their dream gown. That is why we have dedicated ourselves to providing beautiful dresses and gowns at reasonable prices in the Ghent area. For those in the early stages of wedding planning: we encourage you to have a look at our bridal collection and browse the Atelier ExC Google review page to get a better sense of what we can do for you!

To try on dresses, we always provide a one-on-one consultation with a bridal expert. We also provide your own dressing room suite where you will get our undivided attention. Therefore, you will need to book an appointment in advance.

Yes! We believe finding the perfect dress is a personal experience, which is why every appointment you have with us will be in one of our lovely private bridal suites. We have three large fitting areas at our two top floors in order to guarantee privacy as well as the assistance of a dedicated stylist.

Your wedding gown might just be the most important dress you will ever buy. We want to make sure that you receive all the attention you deserve and require to speed up the process of finding your dream gown.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make the appointment available to other brides. A Saturday appointment requires a 48 hours cancellation or rescheduling notice.

Take a look at the selection of bridal dresses on our website and social media and take note of any features or particular styles that appeal to you. It might also pay off to browse and collect images on sites like Pinterest, or do it the old-fashioned way by gathering pictures from magazines.

We recommend bringing nude underwear and a strapless bra to your appointment, but don’t worry if you do not have either of these. They are by no means essential. We have a range of shoes you can try on with the dresses, but feel free to bring your own if you wish. Makeup on your face is fine, but please do not wear any makeup from your neck area down. That includes no fake tan, no lotions and no bronzing products on your body. We understand you want to feel amazing in our dresses, but we want to be able to keep them looking as neat as possible for everyone.

Whilst it may seem like a wonderful idea to bring all your friends and family with you to your appointment, we have learned from experience that it can be quite stressful and confusing for the bride. With that in mind, we strongly recommend that you bring a very selected number of guests to your appointment. That will allow you to relax and enjoy the appointment without too many conflicting ideas and opinions. You are supposed to be the centre of attention; we want to help you find the perfect dress.

Unfortunately, we cannot allow you to take pictures during your appointment for a number of reasons. Most of our designers do not allow pictures. Another reason is that the dresses probably are not the right fit yet. An image of a dress that is not yet altered to your body shape is not particularly flattering.

The main focus of the appointment can easily shift from how you feel in a dress to whether it looks good on social media, which we want to prevent. You might be looking at yourself more on your friends’ phone screen rather than thinking about how you actually look and feel in the dresses you try on.

Lastly and most importantly, we want to protect the brides that have already bought a dress from us. Seeing a badly taken picture on social media of your otherwise gorgeous dress – simply because it is ill-fitting on someone else – could be upsetting for any bride. Therefore, please respect that we ask all phones to be put away in bags or coats while in the dressing room suite.
